On Saturday the Rams lost at Incarnate Word in San Antonio, and gave up 100 points, but on the other end of the floor ASU is improving. Offensively the Rams are shooting better and it's giving them a chance to win.
THE LAST FOUR GAMES WE'VE BEEN OVER 45 PERCENT FROM THE FIELD, WE'RE PLAYING BETTER OFFENSIVELY, WE'RE ATTACKING BETTER, WE'RE GETTING TO THE FREE THROW LINE.
Bryan Hammond had a career high 26 points Saturday and combined with his 17 from last Wednesday he has earned Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Now the Rams face Abilene Christian.
PLAYING ABILENE IS USUALLY A BATTLE, YOU CAN KIND OF THROW THE RECORD OUT THE WINDOW, I DON'T THINK IT MATTERS, IT'S ALWAYS BEEN THAT WAY. IT'S A BIG GAME FOR US WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
ASU's Women's team appeared on the right track in December, winning 4 of 5 going into the holiday break. However, the Belles have lost 4 of 5 since returning.
THAT'S DEFINITELY CONCERNING, THAT'S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU LOSE BASKETBALL GAMES, YOU LOSE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF MORE THAN, PROBABLY NOT IN OTHERS, BUT YOU LOSE IT IN YOURSELF AND IT MAKES YOU PLAY TIMID AND THAT'S A PROBLEM.
Abilene Christian is tied for 1st in the LSC and has a high scoring offense, one that includes offensive player of the week Renata Marquez. The Wildcats are 5th in the nation in 3 pointers made per game at over 9.
DEFINITELY THERE'S A SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN WHAT THEY DO, OR HOW THEY SCORE MORE POINTS THAN THE REST OF US SEEM TO BE SCORING. THEY GET A LOT OF THEIR POINTS OFF OF THREE'S.
Knowing that, the Belles will have to take advantage of every opportunity they get to score.
WE'RE GOING TO REALLY FOCUS ON WHERE WE NEED TO GET THE BALL AND MAKING GOOD PASSES, SETTING GOOD SCREENS AND GETTING THE BALL WHERE WE NEED TO GET IT EVERY POSSESSION DOWN THE FLOOR.
