"Lifeline response is an application that is specifically designed not only to reduce the number of assaults, sexual assaults, and abductions on a college campus," the app founder Peter Cahill said, "but it's more specifically designed to eradicate these from campus."
Lifeline edu is the new phone app angelo state has made available to it's students that A.S.U police chief James Adams said will give campus police faster and precise locations of users in case of on campus emergencies.
"The phone app basically uses cutting-edge technology, G.P.S., and has the ability to track individuals and pin point exactly where they are at in case of an emergency," Chief Adams said.
When the app is activated, students simply place their thumb on the screen of their smartphone and if for any reason their thumb comes off and the safety code is not pushed in, a 24-hour call center will automatically notify the police closest to the location at the time of the attack.
Chief Adams said the app cuts down on response times that will help police get to students much faster.
"When you're having an emergency, communication is so essential, that accurate information is given out that it is relayed quickly and that response to your emergency is quick and accurate and pinpoint and that's what the phone app does."
"If somebody abducts somebody, we're going to know where that person's moving," Peter Cahill said, "we're going to be able to report live data to the police. If they have our app on their phone and they're using it, we're going to know where they're at. "
Chief Adams said Angelo State students can now feel safer walking anywhere around campus knowing the police are just a click of a button away.
"You take someone at night who's walking across campus and they don't feel safe, I can't imagine a better piece of mind then to be able to have something in your hands, that you're operating, that is able to get and summon help if you have some type of emergency. "
