It was an emotional evening Tuesday night as nearly 50 residents gathered in front of the Tom Green County Courthouse to take a stand against the war in Iraq.

This was part of a national grass roots campaign called Take a Stand where concerned citizens are trying to urge Congress to bring U.S. troops home from Iraq. Next month Congress is scheduled to decide whether troops while return or  spend another year in Iraq.  So Tuesday night, local residents shared their thoughts on the war on the steps of the courthouse while reading the names of all of the U.S. troops killed in Iraq since the war began.
