school2007-08-28-1188361752.jpgTuesday was the second day of class for the 2007 - 2008 school year, but it was not until tuesday night that the school year budget was not approved. Board members officially adopted the 94.3 million dollar budget. That is how much it takes to operate the 24 area campuses. Board members also approved the new tax rate. San angelo i.S.D. Assistant superintendent jeff bright said, "the tax rate they are going to adopt is actually going to drop from 1.44 this year to a dollar, eleven next year. A lot of that comes from the tax relief offered by the legislature and house bill one. Most home owners should see a significant reduction in their taxes this school year."
