Road Safety for School

By: KSAN News
Updated: August 24, 2007
With the first day of school just around the corner, law enforcement officials remind drivers to be aware of the additional drivers on the road.

Drivers need to be prepared for school speed zones to be reactivated. This means drivers will also be seeing crossing guards at many local intersections. As always expect school buses to pick up children, parents will be driving students to and from school. And many young drivers will be rushing to get to class on time.  So with the school year kicking off on Monday, the San Angelo Police Department is offering these traffic safety tips for students. If students are walking to school, use the buddy system. Remember to only cross the street at crosswalks and never between parked cars. If your riding a bicycle, scooter, or skateboard to school, always wear a helmet. Remember to ride in the same direction as traffic.
