Monday night, San Angelo school board members voted to publish a proposed school tax rate increase for the coming year.
They agreed to publish the maximum allowable rate increase per 100 dollars property value -- of one dollar and 11 cents.
On the 28th of this month -- school board members will hold a public hearing before making a decision on a rate increase.
Superintendent Carol Ann Bonds talked about the proposed increase.
" And this district will be hosting the dollar four, which is the maximum a district can do without a election, plus the interest to pay off our former bonds will be up to seven cents."
Also Monday night -- administrators talked about the new religious bill approved by state lawmakers during the last session.
San Angelo school board members and administrators will have to agree on a policy to implement the new bill before school starts in two weeks.
