It's a savings you don't want to miss. Nicole Sanchez has more on what's included and not included for this three day sales tax holiday....

Everything from head to toe for kids of all ages. For the 8th year in the role, Texas shoppers can purchase most clothing and footwear priced under $100 without paying an extra 8.25% in taxes for three shopping days.

"Tax free weekend means that they can save tax off, clothing, apparel, footwear,” Curtis Simpson, Store Director for Academy says.

"As long as it's $100, if each item is singularly by itself, a $100 it is tax free,” says Ashley Kennedy Target Sr. Team Leader.

Local retail businesses such as Target, Academy along with Christians in Action are some of the many stores across town that are preparing for the Sales Tax Holiday August 17-19, a time where shoppers can save about $8 on every $100 they spend on all types of back to school merchandise.

"It's always busy for us, like any other retail store here in San Angelo, Christians in Action, we get really busy,” Christians In Action Assistant Director, Rickey Green says.

"We're bulking up our staff this year, we are also making sure we have everything out, signed appropriately and organized for the guest to make it easier for them for shopping,” Kennedy says.

Shoppers can expect to get a break on paying tax for anything from diapers, to hunting and fishing vests. To the newest item added to the list this year....

"Backpacks is what's new this year. The only thing that you cant' get taxed free is I know football season is coming up and you can't get the cleats and stuff like that,” Simpson says.

"That only includes the back-packs that can be worn on the back with straps, it doesn't include the roller back-packs," Kennedy says.

Either way you use the money saved from this sales tax holiday, retailers are sure that families will appreciate the tax break.

Kennedy says, "I think it's very helpful especially with families with multiple children or children who are getting older where the clothing is more expensive. I think it defiantly helps them, it kind of gives them an incentive and also allows them to buy things that they might not otherwise buy prior to the tax free weekend."
