An event was held Saturday at Sunset Mall to find soles in order to protect the feet of orphans across the world.Unwanted shoes socks and shoelaces were collected at the shoe drive. Shoes for Orphan Souls is a drive that is done around the country to help orphans. One of the volunteers of the event explained the importance of the shoe collection effort.
Volunteer Kirby Winchester said, "It is important because these orphanages around the world don't get enough funding to give these children shoes, clothes, personal hygene products, stuff like that. So, it is important for them to ask other people and for us to volunteer."
Volunteers said they are in need of shoes sizes youth 1 to adult 8. The drive will continue Sunday at 8am.
