A local history professor is bringing a part of time back to life thru a special exhibit that has traveled internationally. It's made a stop here at the West Texas Collection to educate San Angeloans on Francisco Villa and the Battle of Ojinaga.

"This is an opportunity for people to relive the past," John Eusebio Klingemann, ASU History Faculty Member says.

The West Texas Collection is taking a step back 97 years ago to the Battle of Ojinaga.

"The battle of 1910 has become one of the most interesting topics that deal with modern Mexican History," Klingemann says.

Klingemann began this exhibit 5 years ago known as Francisco Villa and the Battle of Ojinaga. A period in history that Klingemann along with the West Texas Collection are preparing to bring back to life with dozens of pictures, newspaper clippings and books.

"It includes a shortned version of the film itself of Villa attacking the city of Ojinaga in 1914, it includes several panels that basic give information about the battle itself."

This exhibit has educated thousands and traveled thru 3 countries. With it's stop here at ASU, Klingemann, hopes it will do the same.

"There's quite a history in West Texas and also in Chihuahua, so I hope that people like Pancho Villa weren't necessary the bandits that they were made out to be by the Post Revolution Govt. of Mexico but they were actually individuals who hope to achieve change," Klingemann says.

If you would like to see this exhibit, it will open it's doors to the public later this week at The West Texas Collection in the Houston Harte University Center.
