BEE2007-07-26-1185495464.jpgNew information is being released regarding a violent bee attack that took place Wednesday afternoon in a San Angelo neighborhood. Authorities are still waiting on test results, but according to the local Health Department, all signs indicate this was a swarm of Africanized or so called "killer" bees.
According to Animal Control, one of the dogs that was injured during the attack died from multiple stings. San Angelo Resident David Hughes says he was mowing his lawn when the bees attacked in the 1500 block of Tyler Street. According to the Health Department, Africanized bees are in San Angelo and they have been interbreeding with local honey bees. African bees are aggressive and the attack response can be set off by high pitched motor noises like mowers and weed eaters.
