heart2007-07-18-1184801602.jpgDel Corazon is their name and giving from their heart is their mission. It's a local group of four from San Angelo who is helping make the life of those across the border a better one. We met this group in Acuna, Mexico at the general Ignacio Zaragoza School of 1,200 6 thru 12 year olds to see the conditions of their place of education.

Ciudad Acuna Mexico located right across the border from Del Rio, TX is a place where many Mexican Citizens must make the most of what they have to survive. Besides going day by day with these dirt roads, rough living conditions and a poor job market, their school General Ignacio Zaragoza is not much better.

"Esta escuela se falta mucho,” Principal of General Ignacio Zaragoza School, Mary Solis. "The school how one sees it, it lacks a lot." Is what Solis says about this school that was built in the 1980's.

With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees in the classroom this is not only an unsuitable learning environment but also an unhealthy one.

"Tuvimos como cinco que se desmallaron incluso cuando hacemos los horarios tratamos que ponerlos en sombrita. Para que no se afecto eso pero case que a veces suspendemos mejor."  "We had 5 that fainted including when we had classes we tried to put them in the shade, so they wouldn't be affected. But, they would faint so we would cancel instead." is what Solis says.

"We live over there and we have every thing over there we come over here and these people don't have nothing,” is what Del Corazon coordinator Rene Perez says.

Although it's in a different country a group of San Angeloans are sending their help and heart, to give a hand.

"We're doing it out of the heart, puro Corazon,” Perez says.

The group Del Corazon plans on renovating the school to make it a better place for education. They have to complete their goal so that the students can start their new semester and new life and the principal considers this a blessing.

"Esto es una bendicion por nosotros," Solis says.

"When we get this project done, it's not going to stop….Del Corazon,” Rene Perez says.
