Claybirds were flying in the air Saturday to help something else that flies in the air to save lives.
This was the second shoot this summer that was geared towards helping out Air Med 1.
Shooting enthusiasts joined together at the San Angelo Claybird Association Saturday for another benefit clay shoot to help Shannon Medical Center's Air Med 1. The sporting event kicked off at 8am and the final shoot off took place at 5pm. There was also a live and silent auction for those who participated and others who didn't have their sights on winning a shooting event. One of the coordinators said it everyone had a good time to help raise money for this much needed service.
Connie Whitman, Shoot Coordinator, said, "The proceeds out here go to Shannon Air Med, so thats what we are about today. Its a helicopter that provides safety for the city of San Angelo and the surrounding areas. So without Air Med One we wouldn't be able to get to those critical patients in a timely manner."
