Goodyear Tire Pressure Check

Ever stop and think about how much pressure you're under driving around town? Chances are you probably don't have enough.
Tom Peeples, Lead Engineer of the Goodyear Proving Grounds, says that driving around with improperly inflated tires can lead to safety issues.
Tom Peeples -- Some of the dangers of under inflating your tires is that they are more susceptible to sidewall damage or continued and prolonged use of an under inflated tire can cause excessive stress on the inside of the tire which can lead to things like the tire coming apart and severe safety issues. There are two inflation pressures, the recommended inflation on the door frame and owner's manual, and on the tire itself - a maximum inflation pressure. I recommend never going over the maximum inflation pressure.
At the Proving Grounds, engineers and tire technicians work year round testing durability, traction, performance, and fuel economy...
Tom Peeples -- Every pound of pressure in a tire less than what it should be equates to dollars lost in fuel economy. Running a tire at proper inflation will improve your fuel economy.
And who doesn't want that? With the holidays just around the corner the Goodyear Pit Crew is rolling out its annual Tire Pressure Check Wednesday at the north side Super Walmart from 9am to 4pm.

Looking at them you can't tell if they're under inflated. The best way to check them is with a tire gauge. So if we get people's mindset to check their tires and offer them a tire gauge, we hope they'll carry them and check them.
With all the precious cargo riding around on your tires, use of a simple inexpensive tire gauge is a no brainer.
