books2007-06-13-1181774796.jpgSince 1979 the Tom Green County Friends of the Library has been reading to others about a Book Sale that has been opening the world of imagination to many. Wednesday we caught up with the crew, moving thousands of books to be sold.

Once upon a time, several San Angeloans transported thousands of books from the basement of the Tom Green County Library, to the convention center, turning it into a library for the Tom Green County Friends of the Library 29th Book Sale.
“We love books you got to be a book lover to do this it’s a labor of love,” says Joe Lynch, member of the Tom Green County Friends of the Library.
Lynch along with dozens of volunteers participated in a labor of love that has led to sorting out over 52,000 donated and discarded books that are in 1,600 boxes.
“We have something for everyone, from toddlers to octogenarians,” Lynch says.
And these bookworms are sure to find their favorite selection. Co-Chairman of Book Sale Barbara Thompson says, “Everything you can dream, and lots of books on tape and CD’s, magazines, some video and records.”
These books do not just help fund the construction of the new Tom Green County Library but also allow a world of imagination to be read.
“You can sit and watch TV or video games on a computer and it does very little for your imagination but when you read a book, it just excites all kind of imagination in your mind because you don’t look at anything you imagine it and that makes a world of difference,” Lynch says.

The End.

The pages begin to turn on Friday with a preview of the Book Sale starting at 6PM with a $10 charge and the books close on Monday, as they wrap up with a giveaway of the left over books. Saturday's sale starts up at 9AM thru 6PM and Sunday 2PM to 7PM. The books are priced from .10 cents to $1.50.
