Concho Bike Celebrates 25 Years
By Aaryn Valenzuela

Randall Smith says his dad started the family business more than fifty years ago, selling and fixing bikes out of his garage.

"He was working on bikes in his garage, painting and selling them, and he also worked for the gulf oil company in Port Arthur, so thats how we got started," says Randall Smith, Co-Owner of Concho Bike.

Today Concho Bike and Power Equipment has three locations, two in Texas, and one in Oklahoma City.

It started out mainly as a bike shop, but grew to sell other things like lawnmowers.

"Now we've got into lawnmowers because one of our bicycle distributors started selling lawnmowers, and now its more lawnmowers than bicycles," says Smith.

He opened the San Angelo store in 1988, and this year, they're celebrating 25 years of business. Now his son Justin works with him, running the bicycle side of the shop.He started working full time at the shop in the late 90s, but remembers helping out as a kid

"I've been running around here ever since i could walk, turning wrenches, as soon as they would let me get back there in front of the bikes. I helped them out where I could, probably making more of a mess than anything," says Justin Smith, Co-Owner of Concho Bike.

He says he's enjoys working with the public

"I think its great we've been here 25 years, serving the people of San Angelo, and I would love the opportunity to serve them for more years to come."
