People from across the Concho Valley traveled to Lake Ivie tonight for a special mass lead by catholic diocese bishop Michael Pfeifer.
Bishop Pfeifer led the "Thanksgiving mass" service for people who attended from San Angelo, Eden and several other Concho Valley communities.
Choir members from three area catholic churches provided the music.
The bishop led a similar service when the dam was first built 17 years ago.
"I know how much water means to us, especially out here in West Texas, and i thought after 17 years, id come beck, and have another prayer to thank god for this water, that supplies so much of West Texas: San Angelo, Big Spring, out to Midland Odessa."
Workers completed the Lake Ivie dam in March of 1990. At the time, the longest and most expensive line in Texas was built for 157 miles from Lake Ivie via San Angelo to Odessa and Midland.
