A mass honored current pope Benedict The Sixteenth and prayed for the Catholic Church as they prepare for  conclave to select his predecessor.
San Angelo Diocesan Bishop Michael pfeifer presided over the special mass - held in the Sacred Heart Cathedral at noon today. Pope Benedict the Sixteenth announced his resignation earlier this month - citing failing health. His final official day as Pontiff is this Thursday with conclave to select the new world-wide leader of the Catholic Church expected to begin in March. Benedict the Sixteenth is the first pope to resign since pope Gregory the Twelfth in 1415 - almost 600 years ago
