Glenna Friedrich, with the San Angelo Better Business Bureau says, “sometimes it doesn't take a very large hail storm to do damage to a roof. Especially if you have several small storms you know that come through. You can have roof damage. It is always best if you even think you might have hail damage to your roof to contact your insurance adjuster and get them out there and let them take a look at it to make sure that it is okay.”
Friedrich says there are some precautions you need to take before allowing anyone to start hammering on your roof. "Sometimes it is better to really study who you want to take care of these repairs on your home or your car and then get the right person to do the repairs. It is more important to get the right person then be fast about it."
Friedrich says you should never commit to the first contractor who comes to your doorstep offering repairs.
Friedrich says, "I would never recommend going with one estimate on a home repair. Anytime, I don't care what you are having done to your home. You need to get a minimum of three estimates, you really do. You need to also check the reputation of whoever is doing it."
Friedrich want everyone to remember that your home is your biggest investment and you should never let scammers get the best of you.
Friedrich says, "We have seen some real horror stories where people with roofs leak and it goes through to the inside and ruins the ceiling, ruins the furniture, ruins the carpet, and turns into a major remodeling job just because the roof was not done correctly."
