Veterans of any age and any war could attened the open house for free.

Among the booths were support services and groups offereing information about potential benefits.

Laura serrano who organized the event spoke with us about how the community has responded.

"I think for the most part there are community members, community partners, as well as Texas Veterans commission, the VA, that definately present themselves as veteran friendly, they do want to be able to help veterans so that connection is made, because they're quite interested in making sure our veterans are taken care of."

Serrano says that she hopes to make this an annual event and hopes to continue building relationships with the community.
