SAN ANGELO, Texas -
Angelo State head coach Will Wagner announced the signing of 25 student-athletes on Wednesday for the 2013 fall season.

"We are really excited about the class of 2013, Wagner said. "I thought from a defensive standpoint we focused our attention on speed. We were able to grab guys at all positions that possess that and pick-up quite a few guys that can play multiple spots. It is a very athletic class.

The defense added 14 players for a defense that finished first in the LSC in total defense. The defensive backfield saw the biggest number with eight signing. Four linebackers and two defensive linemen also sent national letters of intent.

"On the offensive side it is another great signing class up front with the offensive line," Wagner said. "We were able to bring in some skill guys that bring a more physical presence to the offensive side of the ball."

The offense signed 11 players with five coming on the offensive line. One quarterback, two tight ends, two wide receivers and a kicker inked a national letter of intent for the Rams.

The class is comprised of four transfers and 21 high school signees. Only two of the 25 members are from outside of Texas. A total of eight members of the 2013 class are from west Texas and two of those are from the Concho Valley.

Angelo State will hold the annual Spring Game on April 13.
