But what if there is no money to pay them?
"This past year the postal service posted a financial loss of $15.9 billion. By any measure that is unsustainable and unacceptable."
Due to financial loses, the postal service is moving forward with a change in delivery schedule.
"Beginning the week of August 5th of this year, the postal service delivery will consist of six days of packages delivery and five days of mail delivery."
Mail delivered to street addresses will no longer be delivered on Saturdays, but according to the U.S. Postal Service, a 14% increase in packages sent since 2010 will allow the delivery of packages to remain six days a week.
The postal service expects to generate savings of about $2 billion annually once the plan is fully in place.
"We as a nation have to make some sacrifices to get our nation back on it's feet and our budget in place and I really believe that it will be beneficial for all."
"Well, I don't get a lot of mail on Saturdays, mostly junk mail, so I say let them do it if it will save them money and keep them in business."
Some Concho Valley residents in more rural areas don't think the change will be as beneficial and have already struggled with postal service.
"It affects everyone out in Paint Rock. They closed us down to four hours and I'm having to come to town just to mail one package. "
"I know they've got to cut costs. I know they've got a problem to work with but maybe that's not the best way to do it. I'd really hate to see Saturday service cut."
The postal service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies solely on the sale of postage and services. The USPS is hoping this change will help them return to long-time financial stability.
