It has been nearly a month since voters in San Angelo voted down a $130,000,000 bond issue. Since that time SAISD officials have been working to find out why voters did not support the idea. KSAN News spoke with Superintendent of Schools Doctor Carol Ann Bonds friday in order to find out what has been learned since the votes were cast. Dr. Bonds has been interviewing concerned residents since the bond failed last month. She is trying to find out why voters said "no." Dr. Bonds said, "Even those who have voted against it feel they want to support us making the facilities better." Voters made it clear that the bond proposal needed to be altered in order to rally more support. School leaders were hoping to have a new version of the bond issue on the ballet this November, but that project is turning out to be more challenging than first expected. Dr. Bonds said, "Probably we are not going to have this process completed in time to call another bond of such magnitude in November, if at all." School board members will ultimately make this decision, a decision that still seems uncertain.
