Gun rights advocates are gathering all over the Nation, and here in
Gun advocates peacefully stood along the road, waving signs of disagreement against stricter gun laws and defending their rights to own firearms.
Chuck Ratliff, the protest organizer says, "We are here alerting our fellow citizens and patriots, and hoping that they will get the spirit our founding fathers had."
The nationwide protest against the proposals was boosted when social media called for all those against to join together in small or large protests to support the "Guns Across America" event.
Ratliff says, "Guns don't kill people, they never have, somebody has to pick up a gun, and shoot at somebody else, they don't have to use a gun, they could do it with a hammer, they can do it with a knife, baseball bat, etc. so what are you going to stop, what are you going to outlaw, how many things can you outlaw, before we are all completely defenseless."
Ratliff says that this is the best way to get instant appreciation and instant recognition of what the second amendment is supposed to entail.
Ratliff says, "hear these horns honking; those are Americans that agree with us. We're going to lose our freedom, we are losing them the word is now that only the pages in the Obama Care, is that when you go see your doctor, he has got to ask you if you have any guns, and then what do you think he is going to do with that information, he is going to send it straight to Obama and the boys and then what, I'll let your mind work, they are going to come to your house and say we want to see your guns, we want to take them, you know that did happen in New Orleans after Katrina."
These protests come only days after President Obama announced a package of new gun control proposals, meant to curb gun violence.
Ratliff says, "I'm a veteran, many of these people out here are, we all took an oath to protect the constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. We have domestic enemies for sure in addition to our foreign enemies."
