Linda Ashton is an avid shooter and member of the San Angelo Gun Club. She and her husband, along with friends, often practice at the San Angelo Gun Range.
Ashton is against a ban on "military-style assault rifles, and says the government needs to enforce the laws already in place

"They keep adding laws but  they don't look at what they already have on the books, i mean those gun laws here and in newton, that's one of the strictest gun backgrounds that they have and you have a strict background here before you can buy a gun or get a chl," says Linda Ashton.

Because of the possibility of legislation banning assault style rifles, and high capacity magazines, gun rights advocates all over the country have deemed tomorrow "Gun Appreciation Day."State Representative Drew Darby has received lots of phone calls from concerned citizens in the Concho Valley, and says he's against any executive order limiting second amendment rights

"I do think this is an attempt by an overreaching administration to use this tragedy, and it is a tragedy, to try and further limit the constitutional rights of law abiding citizens who own guns.

This session, Darby is co-sponsoring a bill called the "Second Amendment Preservation Act".

"We are just giving our state wide law enforcement officers the ability to resist those orders." In meantime, Ashton encourages everyone to speak out .

"Write to your congressman and to your senators and let your representatives know how you feel, so they can well represent all of us."
