Summertime has now begun and kids are starting their vacation from school. And some kids might be looking for some activities to stay busy..... It’s the first week of summer vacation for SAISD Students and for some that means fun. Hundreds of Concho Valley children have found ways to keep their summer booked. “We get to do a lot of fun stuff like go to the pool and play freeze tag and play,” 4 year old Camp Paseo Camper says.
Several kids have filled the San Angelo Recreation Department for a summer full of fun. “We try to give them games that help them learn things so that they’re not getting real lazy during summer time so they still go to school remembering what they learned here all summer,” Camp Counselor Courtney Sales says.
San Angelo YMCA also is keeping children busy with 5 different camps for grades ranging from 1st thru 8th graders. Trey Addison, Day Camp Director for YMCA says, “This keeps them active, outside where their not sitting inside playing video games, all day eating junk food and that kind of stuff.”
With physical activities such as running and playing there also arts, at the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts, Summer for Kids. “It’s about being creative and imaginative and there’s no right and wrong with art it’s all about an experience and trying new things,” Educator for the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts says.
So if your kid is home wondering what they might be doing on an other summer day, they might want to think that over.
Camp Paseo, YMCA and Summer for Kids at San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts still have a few openings left for campers.
