vol32007-06-06-1181170285.jpgPat Mahanay spends her free time volunteering at the American Cancer Society Center and she says she does anything that needs to be done.

Pat Mahanay says, "There is a lot of things that we do. Mostly I answer the phone in the office. I am the behind the scenes for all the relays and the jail and bail and the golf tournament and all that."

Pat says many non-profit organizations wouldn't exist if it wasn't for her and other volunteers.

Mahanay says, "If it wasn't for the volunteers [there wouldn't be a lot of money raised because that is who does the main raising projects."

Not only does she help with fundraising projects and the Relay for Life, Pat also takes phone calls from people who just need someone to listen.

Mahanay says, "It is just numerous people call in and [sometimes they just like to visit and talk about problems they got. Their family, they feel bad and don't know what to do and need help and we talk to them on the phone about things like that."

She also says there is nothing more fulfilling then to help a person in need.

Mahanay says, "I am just glad to be able to do it. I mean as you get older you know, it is just nice to health wise and things you can still do things for people and it just makes you feel worth wild and makes you feel good."
