Colts Comeback Falls Short

By: John Tarrant
Updated: June 5, 2007
After the top of the fourth inning it appeared as if the Colts were in for a long night. They were down 6-0 and showed no signs of turning things around. Then Jason Crosland stepped up to the plate at hit a monster home run to left field cutting the lead to five runs and giving the Colts new life. In the eighth inning Andres Rodriguez would match Croslands home run total on the season (6) with a three run homer that cut the lead to 7-5. The Colts would rally all the way back and were only trailing by two runs in the bottom of the ninth. With one out in the ninth John Beal would earn a walk and bring the tying run to the plate. Ronnie Gaines would then slap a triple that would bring Beal around to score and the Colts had the tying run only 90 feet away from tying the game at seven. But Amarillos closer Nick Burger would strike out Marcus Lewis then get John Anderson to fly out to center field to end the ball game. The Colts and Dillas will be in action Wednesday night for game number three of a four game series at Foster Field with first pitch scheduled at 7:05.
