In San Angelo, Emergency Management Coordinator Ron Perry Authorized The Sounding Of Two Weather Sirens About Five Sunday Evening. He Made That Decision After National Weather Service Meteorologists Reported Radar-Indicated Baseball Sized Hail In The San Angelo Area And Straight Line Winds At More Than 70 Miles An Hour.
Because Of New Weather Warning Regulations Weather Sirens Are Now Used For The Traditional Tornado Warning And Also Winds At Speeds Of 70 Miles An Hour Or More And The Potential Of Golf Ball Or Larger Sized Hail. Perry Also Says One Of The Main Reasons He Authorized Weather Sirens Sunday Evening Was To Get People Off The Lakes Because Of The Potential Of High Winds And Hail.
