Pecan Competition

Area pecan crops are stilling working to recover from recent drought.
Judges examined about 150 entries in the West Texas Regional Pecan Competition held by Texas A&M's Agrilife Extension Office.
This competition began in 1950 - making it the largest and longest running state-wide pecan competition in the country. Judges look at the weight and how much meat is in each nut. Two numbers they say are still down after recent drought
