Later tonight, shoppers will head home with their Black Friday bargains as the busiest shopping day comes to a close.  But for those who didn't participate in the hustle and bustle of today's events, there is still another chance for shoppers to get some great deals while helping their own communities.  KSAN's Senora Scott has the details.

"The holiday shopping season is in full swing with Black Friday coming to a close and Cyber Monday quickly approaching.  But there's another nationwide shopping movement in between where consumers can make a difference in their local economies.  It's called Small Business Saturday where the idea is to only shop at locally owned businesses, therefore stimulating local economy and promoting job growth for your town.  Chandra Harris co owner of Concho Confetti says that it's not just about the economy but shopping locally has other benefits as well.  "You can go to the big malls, the big chain stores but it's the uniqueness of our small stores, our own personality comes out."  That personality is also noticed by others consumers often look for unique items to give as gifts and according to shopper Ashleigh Maris, San Angelo is one of the best places to find those types of items.  "West Texas is a good place to go to for that, we've got a huge selection, a lot of different styles a lot of different fashions that collide and make it their own  here."  Local shop owners are hoping that customers and sales will collide to help not just their businesses but others like them during this nation wide effort to help one another.  "Small businesses, small communities are the back bone of our nation, they're what make us, they're our core they're the true people what we really are and you can't just improve in one area you have to improve all the way around and you have to work together."  Working together to shop small while thinking big.  Senora Scott, KSAN, San Angelo's News Channel.
