Relay for Life

The past nine months has been a courageous battle for Betty Zentner. Today Zentner is grateful to say, "Im a survivor." While putting on her make-up in September 2006, Zentner discovered some bad news with a lump on her neck. "They tell you its cancer, its lymphoma. And everything in your life just like flashes in front of you, cancer...death,” Zentner says. And Zentner wasnt going to let lymphoma end her life. 32 years, she has been running her family business of Zentners Daughter Steak House and being a fulltime mother, wife and grandmother. "Thats all you want to know. Your grandchildren, will they remember you if something happens to you. It just all goes back to the fact that we take so much for granted. Getting up in the morning, seeing just being here for granted and its a beautiful gift." A precious gift that Zentner says was possible for her to have today thanks to the medical advancements developed to help fight cancer. "Youre this body thats going from doctors office to doctors office to different tests and what are they going to do next and you completely totally, put your life in their hands. Hopefully this treatment now will keep in remission and that nasty old ugly monster will never come back." This eight month battle with this ugly monster will be a journey that Zentner will continue to take day by day. "Live, live, live it’s pretty. Yes, yes, and if I cant, Im sure going to give it a try doing it,” Zentner says.
