State House Members Have Approved A Bill To Increase The Penalty For Vandalizing A State-Owned Cave Formation. The Bill Increases The Penalty To A Class A Misdemeanor. A Second Violation Would Be Prosecuted As A State Jail Felony. State Representative Harvey Hilderbran Introduced The Bill In Response To An Incident At The Sonora Caverns In November. Someone Damaged The Butterfly Formation, One Of The Main Attractions At The Caverns Of Sonora. Hilderbrans Bill Is Now Being Considered In The State Senate.
