Keep snacks between meals healthy. For example a healthy snack would include an apple with a tablespoon of peanut butter, crackers and cheese, vegetables, yogurt, and cereal with milk.
Exercise daily! Try to be active at least 1 hour per day. Walk, ride bikes, play outside, walk the dog. Be active everyday. Stay positive with your kids! Never criticize your child about eating, physical activity or weight due to the negative effects this can have on your child.
Family mealtimes have shown to have a positive impact on family communication and functioning, increased consumption of fruits, vegetables, grains and dairy. It can improve school performance and can reduce the risk of adolescent mental health problems and addiction.
Remember you are making changes as a family, so encourage each other to stay motivated. The entire family should be eating healthier not just your children.
