It was a close call at Mathis Field just before 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon. According to authorities, it was around noon when the pilot of a bonanza aircraft informed the Mathis Field tower about a landing gear problem. The plane was having an electrical failure that prevented the landing gear from coming down. Despite the problem, the plane landed safely. The San Angelo Fire Department was called out as a precautionary measure. The two individuals on the plane were not injured.
