New State Dog Laws

Attention San Angelo dog owners, some new state wide laws are going into effect Saturday that you may need to know about.
Newly passed dog legislation is putting "teeth" into the "bite law." A new state law goes on the books that will charge animal owners with a *felony* if a victim is seriously injured or killed by their dog. The new law comes on the heels of the mauling death of a 76 year old woman in Central Texas. Under the law, even a first attack will be considered a felony. The problem, says the Director of the Health Department, is that irresponsible dog owners breed dogs that are vicious, and then allow them to roam free. Some legal experts are calling the law one of the nation's toughest.
