tools2007-08-28-1188341147.jpgAngelo State University began classes Monday. And with the new semester, comes a new look. A new look, in the form of some major renovations. Nicole Sanchez has the details.

It’s out with the old and in with the new at the Angelo State University’s President’s and Carr scholarship's offices.

"This is basically the front entrance of the university for many parents and students and also lots of donors and corporate sponsors and also I'm a former businesses and I'm a form believer that you need to have a very professional look in terms of that," Angelo State University President, Dr. Joseph Rallo says.

A new professional look that Rallo is thankful to see after recently taking over as the 4th ASU President.

"When I first came on my interview I asked the question why do we have Tennessee colors and Texas colors and I guess historically those are what someone did and as you can see around ASU colors and you can see our pride and our history traditions so the wallpaper and carpet represent those colors," Rallo says.

The blue and gold colors that began going up about a month ago, after interior decorators and University employees chose the colors and designs that represented the college at its best. Rallo gave us a tour of the offices under construction at ASU.

"As you can see the carpeting it was a lovely orange and the wallpaper was orange to match the carpeting and this entire suite was like 25 years ago that it was done and as I indicate as I look at this in terms this is the front entrance of the university, in particulars my office and people who come in want to have an interest of what the office looks like, have colors that are blue and gold either way we have pride," Rallo says.

“So here we have the executive president's suite, Joe Munoz who deals a lot with the up and coming program and Hispanic children students and recruiting so again, he needed a space his office was actually over there and we flopped so we can get some good traffic pattern in here.”

"We'll have many of the same chairs and stuff that we had before again we'll have the university colors rather than that odd color of orange."

"We're doing some different furniture and the copier won't be in here and the walls were orange, the floors were orange and this is the front porch of the University and I meet all sorts of different types of people."

This makeover should be completed in the next few weeks once ASU becomes part of the Texas Tech system. And Rallo hopes that this new look will be a new beginning to this transition.

“We have many of the Texas Tech faculty, staff senior VP's coming down here to visit and we want to show our campus off as an equal, as I mentioned before we are going to be the 2nd largest campus in the Texas Tech System and we need to act that way," Rallo says.
