Central High School students were checking their class assignments and catching up with old friends. About 100 students waited until this morning to register in the cafeteria at the citys largest campus.
Joe Coleman says "It is a big job. We worked hard all summer. We are used to working with a lot of students."
Teachers and counselors helped students find their way around.
Joe Coleman says "we are expecting a lot of excitement at Central High School. We look forward to doing well academically and athletically."
A new driveway in front of Lee Middle School is designed to simplify curbside pick up and drop off.
J.D. Koehn says "the main purpose of the drive is to get our buses off the street. This helps the congestion."
The Lee faculty features several new teachers who are ready to start the lessons.
J.D. Koehn says "all of our teachers are excited and ready to go. Today we are making sure the students are in the right place.
Three buses are shuttling some Central Freshman Campus students to Central High for morning Biology classes.
Keeva Frazier says "students in pre-AP Biology are going to Central first and second periods. They have the labs ready for Biology and are a better place."
There were a few minor kinks in the shuttle system, but the first day went reasonably well.
Keeva Frazier says "went smooth this morning, most of the kids had gotten registered. We do not have too many still getting registered."
