Every month the Concho Valley Society for Human Resource meets to discuss different discussions on hiring employees for the workforce.
"It's a good networking group for anybody interested in Human resources management. We have a speaker every month, from different places so we come here to learn,” says Camelia Casillas Project Coordinator.
Learning is an important subject for their organization, an essential need that they are helping others with by donating dozens of school supplies for over 300 Lee Middle School at risk students.
"It could be anything from a student who failed one year and has been retained or all the way up to maybe a child who just failed a portion of the TAKS test. So it's a very wide range,” says At-Risk-Coordinator at Lee Middle School, Gordon Gloria.
For 3 years this organization has been holding this drive with their 80 members bringing everything from as little as pencils to as big as backpacks.
"Without the proper supplies, the student can't be successful or can but will have difficulties if we can provide them with the basics, pens, pencils, papers, markers, colors, whatever they need for their class then,” Gloria says.
These 6th through 8th graders will receive their everyday school supplies upon request once school begins. Much needed materials that might allow these LEE Rebels to continue on with their education.
"We don't' know all the situations, different reasons why the kids are in at risk. Some of them you know their parents may not be able to afford to get these things. And we believe getting them the things that they need will help them thru,” Casillas says.
