Volunteer Of The Week

By his wheels and hands he makes sure that area seniors do not go hungry. KSAN’S Nicole Sanchez has the story on this Weeks Volunteer of the Week, Bill Good who has done "Good" to others.

Over 500 local residents are served daily thanks to Meals for the Elderly. Helping deliver these meals is 6 year volunteer, Bill Good. “Rain and snow they still have to eat,” Good explains. That is why he and dozen other volunteers dedicate their time to Meals for the Elderly, a job that Good says is rewarding to the ones giving and receiving.

“You’re helping other people that might not be able to help themselves. A lot of people don`t have family, and they don`t see anybody else with the exception of us and so I think just that contact is important,” Good says.

On Wednesdays and Tuesdays Good spends his days delivering close to 15 meals a day across the city to senior citizens, but that is not the only volunteering that he does with his free time.

"I`m also with Retired Senior Volunteer Program; I help with their Adopt a Program. I also take care of three of the parks in San Angelo."

Even though the two days volunteering takes 1.5 hour each day out of his schedule, and the rising price of gas to get around his route, the price of giving, overlooks all of that.

"I hope that the people that we go to see enjoy what we do, and we do, or we wouldn`t be doing it,” Good says.
