Fun in the Sun

It's called Camp Paseo, a place where dozens of area youth are spending their summer break. Friday the San Angelo Recreation Department bused dozens of campers to some fun in the sun at Lake Nasworthy. 70 kids and 1,000 water balloons equals one day of fun at Lake Nasworthy for these Camp Paseo Campers.
San Angelo Recreation Department Athletic Supervisor Joe Henry Perez says, “Today’s our field trip to the lake; we brought both of our camps out here. Southside and Northside just to have a fun day at the lake.”
“I’ve never had like that much water balloons to throw and stuff so must of the stuff is just new,” says young camper Tyannah Swenson.
This is the first year that the San Angelo Recreation Department has taken their campers from both the Northside and Southside to Lake Nasworthy. Every week the department takes the kids on two fieldtrips but leaders thought this one would relate to their own camp.
Monica Munoz a camp leader says, “We thought we’re a camp so, we should be outside for a day. We thought maybe the lake since kids hadn’t been able to come out here before and give them an experience out here.”
An experience that these campers will not forget anytime soon.
“I think I’m going to go home and tell them that we should start going to the lake more often and its fun,” Swenson says.
The City Recreation Department hopes to return out to Lake Nasworthy in middle August for their end of camp party.
