popo2007-07-12-1184284356.jpgThere's an update on the fatal hit and run accident that happened July 5th. Wednesday we told you about police searching for a maroon or dark colored S.U.V. Thursday they might have found what they were looking for. Jason Calder reports.

It was your typical Thursday morning along Harris Avenue...that was until police located and inspected this dark colored trail blazer.

Curtis Milbourn, S.A.P.D. Public Information Officer, said, "We've dedicated a lot of time and different resources to finding the suspect and a vehicle. One of those resources was our Special Operations Unit. One of the officers or one of the detectives assigned to that had received information and had done some investigation that indicated this could be the vehicle involved."

Milbourn said the Chevy S.U.V. was pulled over by patrol units around 10am. Then it was put on a wrecker and seized by police.

He said, "What our goal is to take it, process it and see if we can find evidence that it was involved in the fatality hit and run."

Milbourn also added that the driver of the vehicle is not a suspect in the case but they have made a lot of progress in the past 48 hours in finding the person responsible in the accident.

"For a couple of days we really had very little to go on and between Officer Barnes, the S.O.S. unit, D.P.S. helped us with some information, we have really made some headway. So I'm feeling pretty good about where we're at right now," said Milbourn.

Police are investigating leads in the case and Milbourn admits the case is far from over. If you have any information, you are asked to call officer Kye Barnes at 658-4357.
