rose2007-07-02-1183418259.jpgOn July 2nd Moniquea Torres should have been celebrating her 19th birthday; but instead her family and loved ones are celebrating the life that she lived.
Co-worker of Torres, Elizabeth Todd at The Development Center says, “Today was her birthday, she was going to be 19, we have a cake and stuff, the cake was apparently already ordered before this happened for today.”
On June 30th 18 year old Moniquea Torres along with her step sister Marcy Garcia were headed to a graduation party for their cousin when the accident occurred at the intersection of US 87 and FM 2105. Both were taken to Shannon Medical Center where Torres was pronounced dead and Garcia suffered head injuries according to DPS Troopers.
For Brother Willie Torres Jr. and Step-brother Macario Garcia this incident seems impossible after just spending a few hours before the accident with their sister.
“She was playing around that we had to dance together and this and that and we were all playing around right there in the living room dancing and stuff and I don’t know just kind of waiting for her so we could actual dance but she never showed up,” Willie Torres Jr. says.
Though she never showed up, her memory will not be soon forgotten by her family and friends.
“I’m just going to miss her, just her laugh her everyday, just going to miss her basically.” Torres says.
“Everybody knew her, she stood out, she was always happy and always just bouncing around and hard worker, and she was a great person,” Todd says.

The Rosary for Torres gets underway Monday at 7PM at the Gutierrez Funeral Home and her funeral will take place at 1PM Tuesday at St. Jospeh's Catholic Church with a burial following at Robert Lee Cemetery.
