flood2007-06-28-1183070800.jpgSevere storms have brought inches of rain to central Texas and the city of San Angelo has come together to send relief to those without running water.

Inch after inch of water has led parts of Central Texas in high floodwaters, leaving victims in a crisis. But the City of San Angelo is finding a way to lend a hand.

“We’re helping our neighbors like they helped us,” Emergency Management Coordinator Ron Perry says.
Helping them by redirecting water that was brought to San Angelo in December 2006 when the city was in their own water crisis.
Perry says, “We’ve had the water in storage that we received from different state agencies and we’re now sending this water that they sent to help us down to help those folks.”
You think that the last thing that these flood victims will want to see is more water, but ironically the flood water has made their drinking water unsafe.
“The problem is that all of this flooding has caused problems with the purification system at the water treatment plants in these small communities and the large communities you got a lot of water going, but it’s not drinkable water. So that’s why we’re sending the bottle water here,” Perry says.
San Angelo along with other agencies across the state is sending aid and the Salvation Army is helping to make that happen by delivering relief.
“The water that we got here today is scheduled to be in Marble Falls where they really have been experiencing a lot of flood damages,” Salvation Army’s captain Kevin Taylor says.
No matter what the need is during the time of the disaster, either in West Texas or Central Texas, Taylor says that the state lives up to its name.
“Texans are family and we’re here to meet their needs of our family,” Taylor says.

Since the past week and a half there have been 11deaths in the state, due to the weather.
