flood2007-06-16-1182047185.jpgWhen every second was crucial, six people took another life in their hands and Saturday they were recognized for it.

A local American Legion post gathered at the V.F.W. on Browning street to honor five of the rescuers with the Bronze Heroism Award. The brave residents were able to help Mr. Gerald Lacy whose car overturned due to flooding waters on May 8.

Rescuer Chris Rood said, "I think it's important just for the fact that even if you don't know them. It puts an impact on other people's lives. It's like 'Hey this person did this for me so maybe they will pass it on in the future.' "

Congratulations to all six brave people for putting their lives on the line.
