Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina has been elected the new Pope. Now known to the faithful of the Catholic as Pope Francis I. Pope Francis appeared to the crowd in St. Peter's Square about 2:20 p.m. Texas time. It was just after 1 o'clock when white smoke began pouring from the smoke stack of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. The election of Pope Francis comes just one day after the conclave began.
