For more than 20 years, volunteers with AARP have helped Concho Valley residents, prepare their tax returns. This year they'll be working from a new office location.
"We are located at the Salvation Army Store, on West Bearuguard, and were so grateful to service the public at this location," Charlene Schmidt, the District Coordinator. Schmidt says they can do a broad range of returns.
" We are limited to returns that do not include depreciation, or business use of the home, for the most part though, the general clients in this area can use our service," says Schmidt.
She says so far this year, they've filed about 500 returned for people. She says its important to bring a few documents including your social security card with you.
"They need to bring their social security card for the tax payer, spouse and dependents, if there are dependents, all of their income documents, and any other documents that might be needed to generate credits, for example, 1098t for college," she says.
She says they file as many as 2000 returns a year for the public.
