Elementary Students Learn About Music

Over the last three years the Cactus Music Series has brought many different artists in various genres of music to perform for students around the Concho Valley.
Daniel Makins is the Executive Director of the San Angelo Cultural Affairs Council and he explaed what the students learned during events such as this.
"The kids get a chance to experience different kinds of music, learn about the different kinds of music, what the emotions and the cultures are that go into creating those sounds."
Tara Amaro is the music teacher at Goliad Elementary said children learn there is to music than just what they hear on the radio.
"It's very important that our kids are exposed to different styles, its not everything that you hear on the radio there's a whole, wide variety of music that is very important. "
Makins says that by allowing students the chance to hear, see, and touch, the instruments it will unlock the inner creativity inside of them.
