Smoke billowed into the air once again making downtown hazy with smoke. Fire crews surrounded the scene attacking the Scott Apartment building from all sides - but unfortunately one more building will be considered a total loss for San Angelo.

Anthony Wilson - "Once firefighters arrived they tried to advance up the stairs but the head was so bad that they had to retreat once they got ablaut half way up the stares the fire had already made it's way up into the attack and so at that point it was a matter of getting defensive and making sure the fire didn't advance into the neighboring homes."

The 13 residents that lived in the home have all been accounted for and are without injuries. Joy Alsobrook was one of the first to discover the fire and immediately reacted by dropping to her hands and knees - and banging on each door to make sure everyone was out.

Joy Alsobrook - "they couldn't' even see me coming down the fire until I cleared the smoke I called my husband, and said honey we have lost everything, everything is on fire."

For many of the residents I spoke with this is not their first fire - some have been in house fires as many as four times before - but for Chris Furlong - it's not just about losing all of his belongs, this fire brings up memories that seem all to real once again today.

Chris Furlong -"my wife was killed in a trailer fire, it burnt down, she ran back in to get my kids some clothes, she got caught in the fire, and it destroyed me, I'm just glad everyone is okay right now."

And that's the attitude that many were taking as they stood and watched the place they called home burn. They stood recounting the events - like most of us do when something tragic like this happens - and wishing they could have done something a little different.

Joy Alsobrook - "you are going to walk into here and it is going to be sopping wet and smoke damage. You know it's like if they ask that question, what you would grab if you could only grab three things. We have played that game probably over a million times over in our heads over, saying I wish I would have grabbed this, this, and this, because we will never get them back. 'This is like watching the first part of a saga, it's the ending but it's also that point where we get to begin again."
