This year the owners of Trend Furniture have decided to award three San Angelo families with new furniture . For more than two decades the owners, Russell and Kristie Reed, have held their Miracle on Wellington Street Project, awarding San Angelo families with new furniture.
"The judges had so many wonderful letters this year. They just thought there was so many deserving families, and so I asked them for their top three picks and this was their second one, and like I say, we have one more," says Kristie Reed, Co-Owner of Trend Furniture.
Kayci and Michael Waller say they were shocked to learn they were one of the winners.
"I had no idea, my son said your going to be on the news, and they came to the door. It was nice. It was a good surprise," says Kayci Waller, this year's second winner.
The Reeds delivered the good news just before Valentine's Day.
"The day before Valentine's we came and knocked on the door, and asked her if she had heard about Miracle on Wellington and explained to her that she was the second winner this year and she was quite surprised," says Reed.
The Reeds say they enjoy giving back to the community they grew up in.
"I think we adapted it off of Miracle on 34th Street and that was a favorite Christmas time story, and the community has been so good to us that we just want to give back to our own community and this is a good way to reach out and touch a family, and help a family that is so deserving such as the Wallers."
"Its wonderful. Its good to have people like that still."
The final winner will be annouced in a couple weeks.
