Reporter-- Tom Green County Judge, Mike Brown, said last year county officials put a ban one the sell of certain types of fireworks due to the extreme drought.

Brown-- "Last year the drought index was so great that there was a state wide disaster issued by the governor and by the local county judges.”

Reporter-- However this year, with greener vegetation county authorities felt there was no need for a ban.

Perry-- "The burn indicators are down low because all of the moisture we have had.  So, I in good conscious could not go to the county commissioners and recommend it.  In fact I told them it may be several weeks before we start looking at it again."

Reporter-- This means area resident will be able to buy and set off fireworks this year… But first you must keep a few things in mind.

Perry-- "Any damage they do to someone else’s property they are still going to be held liable for it.  We also want to mention that there are no fireworks allowed to be sold and or possessed within the city limits of San Angelo."

Reporter-- Perry also wants everyone to remember there own safety during the holiday celebration.

Perry-- "Be very cautious about using fireworks and follow all the rules and regulations and don't let the little ones mess with fireworks make sure there is an adult present and you do have something to put a fire out if it does start."
